Dual Machine Setup Tutorial

Follow this guide to prepare the host machine, configure the secondary machine, apply your license, and run the performance test.

Before You Begin

Make sure both machines are connected to the same router or switch. Use a dedicated setup environment and follow each step carefully. If your setup requires temporary firewall or BIOS changes, apply them carefully and restore your preferred security settings after installation where possible. If you are using Intel X520, note that the secondary machine also requires the driver included in the provided X520 package, and the secondary transport adapter must support Jumbo Packet / Jumbo Frame configuration.

HOST MACHINE

Install the Host Driver

  • Prepare both the host machine and the secondary machine.
  • Connect the supported host network adapter or onboard adapter to the local network used by the secondary machine. If you are using Intel X520, complete the dedicated X520 setup in Step 03 before continuing.
  • Enter the host machine BIOS and disable Secure Boot if required by your driver environment.
  • Extract the downloaded driver package on the host machine.
  • Right-click the .inf driver file and select Install.
  • Wait around 5-10 seconds. The network connection should appear automatically after the driver is installed successfully.

SECONDARY MACHINE

Install Required Components

  • Install Npcap on the secondary machine.
  • Keep clicking Next until the installation is completed.
  • Copy the two secondary-side files into the software folder or the DMATest folder.
  • Make sure the secondary machine is connected to the same local network as the host machine.

INTEL X520 — SPECIAL SETUP

Configure Both Network Adapters

Intel X520 uses a different setup from the other supported network-adapter profiles. When using X520, the secondary machine must also install the driver files included in the WYRMALITH X520 package before you configure the adapter and run DMATest.

Jumbo Packet Is Required on the Secondary Link Adapter

The network adapter on the secondary machine that carries the X520 transport link must expose a Jumbo Packet or Jumbo Frame setting. Set both sides to 9014 (or the equivalent 9 KB option exposed by the driver). If the secondary adapter does not provide a Jumbo Packet / Jumbo Frame option, DMATest may not produce a normal speed result for the X520 profile.

If your built-in secondary-machine adapter does not support this option, use a compatible external adapter instead. USB adapters based on the RTL8156B chipset often provide Jumbo Packet / Jumbo Frame support; verify the option in the adapter's Windows driver before use.

Driver Installation — Secondary Machine

  • Extract the WYRMALITH X520 package on the secondary machine.
  • Install the secondary-machine driver included in the package.
  • If Windows or the driver installer requests a restart, restart the secondary machine before continuing.
  • Open Device Manager → Network adapters → your transport adapter → Properties → Advanced.
  • Apply the settings in the table below before running DMATest.

* Secondary adapter speed: the 10 Gbps Full Duplex value applies to the 10G secondary-adapter configuration shown in the reference setup. If you use a lower-speed adapter such as RTL8156B, do not force 10 Gbps; use the appropriate supported full-duplex / negotiated link mode for that adapter. The critical X520 requirement is that Jumbo Packet / Jumbo Frame is available and enabled on the transport link.

CONFIGURATION

Configure Leechcore.ini

Open the Leechcore.ini file and configure the host MAC address if needed. If left empty, the system may attempt automatic discovery. If automatic discovery fails, or if multiple host machines are present, enter the host MAC address manually.

Read-Only Mode Recommended

When running software protected by strict anti-cheat or integrity controls, keep Writable=OFF. This ensures WYRMALITH operates in read-only mode and prevents memory-write operations. Only enable write mode in an authorized testing environment when it is specifically required and you understand the associated risks.

  • targetMac should be the host machine MAC address.
  • AdapterMac should be the secondary machine adapter MAC address.
  • Writable=OFF is the recommended default and keeps WYRMALITH in read-only mode.
  • Writable=ON enables memory-write access and should only be used for authorized testing when required.
  • License should contain your license key.

SOFTWARE USE

Launch the Software

  • Copy the secondary-side files into the software root directory.
  • Open the software.
  • When prompted, enter your license key.
  • After the license is accepted, the software is ready to use.

PERFORMANCE TEST

Run DMATest

  • Copy and replace the required files inside the DMATest folder.
  • After replacing the files, open DMATest.
  • Run the speed test.
  • X520 users: confirm the secondary transport adapter has Jumbo Packet / Jumbo Frame enabled before testing. If the option is missing, return to Step 03 and use a compatible adapter.
  • Test results may depend on your network hardware, including the secondary machine network adapter, router, switch, link speed, and driver configuration.
